LEWISTOWN – A six-run fourth inning lifted the Gallatin Valley Outlaws over the Bitterroot Bucs 8-7 Sunday in the third place game at the Lewistown American Legion baseball tournament.

Kohler Briggs was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI for the Outlaws, who benefited from nine Bucs errors on a windy day.

Dylan Reed was 3 for 4 with two, two-run doubles for the Bucs. Brad Schaff was 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

The Bucs, 27-18, play at Class A Missoula on Monday at 6 p.m.

Pioneers 13, Butte 2

At Deer Lodge, the Missoula Pioneers made short work of Butte at the Deer Lodge Wood Bat tournament, beating the Miners 13-2 in five innings.

The Pioneers ended up 4-1 at the tournament to take second place.

Evan Colyer got the win on the hill, allowing five hits and five walks while striking out five in four innings. Gregory Maes tossed the final frame.

Ben Metz was 3 for 4 with two RBIs, TJ Porter was 2 for 2 with three RBIs, Luke Bewely had a hit and an RBI and Maes drove home a pair.

The Pioneers host the Missoula Frontiers on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Kelly Pine Field.

Calgary 12, Libby 2

At Libby, the Redbirds scored 10 runs in the first three innings to close out the championship game of Libby’s Big Bucks tournament in five innings via the 10-run margin rule.

Winning pitcher Nolon Bumstead drove home four runs for the Redbirds. He struck out eight on the hill.

Andrew Haggerty drove in a run for Libby.

In Sunday’s other games at the tournament, Moscow, Idaho, beat Tri-County 15-4, Kootenai Valley beat Rainier, Wash., 12-2, and Mission Valley downed Lewiston, Idaho, 12-2.

At Libby, the Rangers wrapped up play in the Big Bucks tournament with a six-inning win over Rainier.

Ryan Holder was 3 for 3 with a solo homer for Kootenai Valley. Dalton Smith also had three hits and two RBIs and Mark Good also drove home a pair.

RJ Glover got the win by working the first four innings.
