Out & About - Our picks for weekend fun

‘Pimped' boards highlight auction

The Stones are gone.

Now, let's get local, OK? Real local.

And we'll start with the On Deck Art Auction on Friday at the Raven Cafe, in which the public can bid on 85 painted, carved up and - to use the parlance of our times, “pimped out” - skateboards by some of the region's most notable artists.

The auction, beginning at 4 p.m., is the last big fundraiser for the Missoula Skatepark Association and Missoula's Mobash skatepark.

On Sunday, it's French fare through the ages with the season opener for the String Orchestra of the Rockies, which will give a “French Connection” concert featuring famous French composers through history. The concert is 7:30 p.m. in UM's Music Recital Hall.

On Saturday, get in the autumn spirit at the annual Fall Gathering at the Moon-Randolph Homestead. There's a big feast, a cider pressing and lots of good old Missoula spirit.

Enjoy your weekend!
