Dave Danford has joined the board of Orbital Shift, Inc. Danford has been a senior marketing and strategic executive at Microsoft for more than 25 years. Orbital Shift delivers cloud-based workforce management software applications used by organizations of all sizes in more than a dozen industries. The Company’s software enables companies to schedule workers, manage labor costs and automate the time clock-in/out process via flexible mobile features that are designed to engage employees, empower managers and inform executives. Danford earned his MBA at the UCLA Anderson Graduate School of Management and his B.A. at the University of Washington, Michael G. Foster School of Business. After starting his career as a CPA with Arthur Andersen & Company and as a vice president of finance and operations at a Silicon Valley start-up, Danford joined Microsoft Corporation in 1991. At Microsoft, Danford led the product development and marketing teams responsible for large-scale commercial and consumer products including SaaS-based ERP/CRM business applications, enterprise mobility, IT infrastructure and ecommerce software. Danford also serves as a member of the advisory board for the University of Montana, School of Business – Marketing & Management and a strong-supporter of the new Masters of Business Analytics.
Andrew Sweet, graphic design and advertising specialist with ALPS Corporation, Missoula based-nation’s largest direct writer of lawyers’ malpractice insurance, was named to the National Insurance Accounting & Systems Association’s Top 30 Under 30. The IASA is a national organization made up of insurance companies focusing primarily on accountants and IT professionals. Sweet has worked diligent on the ALPS Corporation team and we are proud of him achieving this recognition.
Kendra McConaughey was chosen by the employees of Missoula Federal Credit Union as the winner of the 2017 First Quarter Service Quality and Excellence Award. Winners are chosen for providing exceptional service and mentoring, demonstrating leadership, showing initiative and promoting teamwork.
Special Olympics Montana presented Spiker Communications the 2016 Distinguished Service Award for Outstanding Business of the Year. Chris and Wes Spiker have been a champion of Special Olympics Montana for more than a decade. Spiker Communications provides SOMT a variety of in-kind services such as concept development, media placement and graphic design. Chris not only serves on SOMT Board of Directors, but chairs the Board’s Marketing and Communications committee, is a member of the 2015-17 State Summer Games Management Team, and serves as a lead photographer for State Summer Games in Missoula.
Several members of the Toastmasters International Missoula Breakfast Forum Club, that meets Thursdays at Perkins Restaurant, have earned a number of distinctions in recent months. Tierney Wheaton earned a Competent Communicator Award for completing the ten speeches in the Competent Communicator manual. She also placed second in the Area 12 Speech Contest. Marilyn Lemaich placed second in the Area 12 Evaluation Contest. Karen Ward won the Triple Crown Award, which entailed achieving the three education awards of Distinguished Toastmaster, Competent Leader Gold, and Competent Communicator in the space of one year. Shawn Gray and Sheila Mealey earned the Competent Leader awards, each for the second time.
