PayneWest Insurance, Inc., an independent, employee-owned, insurance agency in the Northwest, finalized the acquisition of Stieg & Associates Insurance and its operating companies in Billings, Great Falls and Missoula, as well as Yakima, Washington. Stieg & Associates Insurance is an independent agency focused on the transportation industry. Stieg was started by Walt Stieg in 1981 in Baker. Since its inception, Stieg & Associates has built its business by providing insurance-based solutions with the transportation industry. In 1995 Stieg & Associates formed Continental Owner Operators, Ltd. (COOL) and Continental Owner Operator Insurance Services (COOIS) to further develop a specialty insurance program for independently-leased owner operators. PayneWest Insurance will continue to operate the new division using the Stieg name: Stieg Insurance, a division of PayneWest.

Two employees of Missoula, Montana-based Adventure Life have been selected for Travel + Leisure Magazine’s A-List of the world’s best travel agents and destination specialists. The magazine’s editors selected company founder and CEO Brian Morgan for the Galápagos and Ecuador, and Mary Curry for Adventure Cruises. Morgan has been selected for the A-List every year since 2011; this is Curry’s first selection.
Carole Erickson received the Award of Merit from the The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) at its annual meeting in Fort Worth, Texas. As a public member of the Montana Board of Medical Examiners for more than a decade, Erickson has been a catalyst for positive change for the board, its stakeholders and the state’s citizens. Erickson worked with board staff to identify inefficiencies in the physician application process, resulting in a streamlined system that significantly reduced application times. She also led the formation of the board’s Outreach Committee, and served as its liaison to external groups. Erickson worked for the Western Montana Clinic then the International Heart Institute at St. Patrick Hospital over the past three plus decades. After retiring from the Heart Institute she volunteered to serve on the Montana Board of Medical Advisors.
