The term "culinary entertainment" wasn’t well-known among Missoulians until this past summer, when Alex Fregerio and his wife Christine opened Taste Buds Kitchen at 131 E. Main St. downtown.

The studio is a place where adults can bring their own beer and cocktails and learn to make sushi or New York-style pizza at night, and kids can engage in “cupcake wars” and learn solid cooking skills for life during the day.

Cooking classes for kids include workshops on parfaits, empanadas, rainbow cupcakes, ice cream cones, macaroni and sprinkle doughnuts.

Adults can bring a date and learn to make dumplings, Spanish tapas, Italian food, handmade pasta and brunch. Also, there are adult cupcake wars.

“So far, everything is going well,” Alex Fregerio said. “It’s been open a little over three months and we’ve had a lot of classes. We’re starting our first afterschool program at St. Joe’s Elementary School, and that has almost 40 kids signed up.”

They also added a “tailgating” food class for adults to prep for Griz games.

“It was popular,” Fregerio said. “They learn to make a bunch of tailgating recipes that they can do the night before.”

Fregerio also partnered with The Dram Shop downtown for an event where parents could sip a beverage while kids learned to make treats.

“We’ve been doing classes on Halloween spooky cupcakes, and we’ve been doing a lot of ‘Frozen’ classes,” Fregerio said. “We are getting into gingerbread houses now too.”
