Catch the Hellgate Wind Ensemble as they practice their way to a performance at New York City’s Carnegie Hall.

Only six high school bands throughout the nation won spots on the program for the 2015 New York Wind Band Festival. Hellgate will send 70 student musicians to the event, which includes a public concert in the famous music hall along with workshops and master classes.

To raise money for the trip, the band will perform a “Knights Go to New York” concert for home fans this Saturday at the Missoula Senior Citizens Center. Two performances at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. will feature the band’s repertoire.

The evening will also include performances by Eden Atwood, Rob Tapper and the Hellgate Jazz Band. A silent auction with numerous prizes will run throughout the evening.

Tickets are $18 for the general public, $10 for students and senior citizens, and $20 at the door. They are available at the Hellgate main office, Missoula Senior Citizen Center and Rockin' Rudy’s.

Refreshments, dessert and swing dance lessons are included in the ticket price.
