"Grief Gardening" will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Clark Fork Riverside Outside Patio, 301 W. Front St.

Join others who have lost a loved one as we explore the healing power of plants. During this interactive workshop, we’ll hear about ways to honor and remember our loved ones as we create a memorial planter to take home. Families and children are welcome. Facilitated by Aylett Wright, MS, Bereavement Coordinator for Partners In Home Care Hospice. Call Aylett at 406-327-3624 or email by Monday, July 10, to register.

NAMI Missoula, in conjunction with the Missoula Local Mental Health Advisory Council (and with support of the Knights of Columbus), will hold its sixth annual "Party in the Park," noon-2 p.m., Thursday, July 20. The picnic is for anyone in the community affected by mental illness, including family members and friends; the purpose is to raise awareness, combat stigma, and to have some summer fun! Fried chicken, drinks, and cookies are provided; anyone attending is welcome to bring a side dish to share if they can. This year, the Big Dipper ice cream truck will be providing cones for everyone! Call 406-396-3395.

Throughout the month of July, Cenex Zip Trip will raise money to help prepare local kids for the new school year. Cenex Zip Trip is partnering with The Salvation Army for the annual Backpacks for Kids campaign. Backpacks for Kids is an annual Salvation Army family services program providing backpacks full of school supplies to local families in need. The goal is to provide school supplies for children, so they’re ready to learn when they report for the first day of school this fall.

Cenex Zip Trip customers are encouraged to make a donation at the convenience stores. Everyone who donates can add their name to a special flyer that will be displayed in the store. As a thank you for their donation, contributors will receive a coupon for a free 20-ounce fountain soda or 16-ounce coffee.

Several Cenex Zip Trip convenience stores are participating in this campaign throughout Washington, Idaho and Montana. The campaign is taking place at the following area locations:

Kalispell: 305 E. Idaho St., 1420 First Ave. E. and 2490 US-93.

Missoula: 1540 Toole Ave. and 3325 Brooks St.

Donations raised throughout the month of July will be used in August and September, when each Salvation Army location distributes backpacks and school supplies to local kids. For more information about the campaign, visit
