A Lincoln County woman was killed on Friday when she lost control of the Mazda she was driving on U.S. Highway 93 near Stryker.
The accident happened around 7 p.m. when 19-year-old Morgan Jackson of Eureka over-corrected her car when she drifted off the road.
According to the Montana Highway Patrol, the car went airborne some 69 feet before crashing into a large tree. Upon impact, the car burst into flames while the driver was pinned inside the vehicle.
The passenger, a 22-year-old female, was able to get out of the car and escape the flames.
The passenger was flown to Kalispell Regional Hospital by LifeFlight.
Jackson died at the scene.
The road was bare and dry at the time of the accident. Alcohol and driving above the speed limit were factors in the accident, the Highway Patrol reported.
