A 78-year-old Stevensville man was killed Wednesday when a Black Angus bull charged him, according to officials with the Ravalli County Sheriff's Department.
The man was loading the animal into a livestock trailer on Moiese Lane northeast of Stevensville when the bull turned toward him and slammed him into a fence. Friends of the man helped pull him out of the bull pen, but the injuries were fatal.
The man, a Stevensville rancher, died at the scene, according to Lt. Steve Holton. Nobody else was injured.
The victim's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, Holton said.
