The new AMC Theater at Southgate mall won't serve beer for another month, but once they have the license secured customers can order things like sushi and hand-breaded chicken to go with their wine and beer.

A new nine-screen, “eat-at-your-seat” movie theater where you can order food, beer and wine during the film is set to open at Southgate Mall on Monday, Feb. 26.

The AMC DINE-IN Southgate 9 has been under construction for over a year and is part of a huge revitalization project at the mall that includes a new Lucky’s Market organic-focused grocery store that’s set to open later this year.

At the new theater, guests are allowed to skip the concession line and order from an AMC associate at their seat. They can choose from a full menu of entrees, appetizers, desserts and local craft beers. Once the food is ready, a server delivers it right to their seat, often before the movie begins to ensure a distraction free environment. The theater still needs another month or so to secure the beer and wine license.

“With AMC DINE-IN, we’ve upped the movie-going experience by bringing you the best of both worlds, a restaurant and movie theater, as one amazing experience,” said Jennifer Douglass, vice president of AMC DINE-IN Operations, in a statement. “At AMC DINE-IN Southgate 9, we are proud to offer the most popular options from our high quality, delicious made-to-order menu, along with full service, a comfortable ‘eat-at-seat’ experience, and, of course, the always impeccable presentation on screen.”

The menu features foods like pepperoni flatbread, bacon chicken mac’n’cheese, Asian steak and shrimp bowls, sushi, burgers and chicken melts. There’s also milkshakes, chocolate churros and popcorn. The theater will employ roughly 70 people.

The seats are marketed as “plush, power recliners” and there will be online ticketing, reserved seating and ticketless entry. Guests over 21 can enjoy beer and wine before, during and after the show. For showtime information visit or to see a menu visit
