BONNER – A cause has not yet been determined for a fire in Bonner that started Saturday afternoon.
The Missoula Rural Fire District responded to a brush fire in a field near Flagler Drive in Bonner at about 3:15 p.m. Saturday. On arrival, firefighters found an approximately 1/2-acre grass fire in a field next to a mobile home park and apartment buildings.
It was burning in tall grass, fueled by wind. Five more engines, two water tenders and a command vehicle were called in.
The fire has been contained to the field and as of Saturday night was being monitored for hot spots. The field is surrounded on three sides by roads, providing fire breaks. In total, 1.76 acres burned.
No valuable property was lost, according to Missoula Rural Fire, and there were no injuries. The East Missoula Rural Fire Department and Department of Natural Resources also responded.
