Clothing retailer H&M will open its new 22,000-square-foot store at Southgate Mall in Missoula at noon on Sept. 24.
It is the first store the company has opened in Montana.
The Southgate Mall location will be in the space previously occupied by Gap and The Children’s Place, mall general manager Tim Winger said Tuesday. Gap has already relocated to another location in the mall.
H&M is known for its fast-fashion clothing, and has stores in 54 countries. Its international headquarters is in Stockholm, Sweden.
In a written announcement, the company said it will hire about 40 employees at the new Missoula location.
“The new H&M location will offer Missoula residents a one-stop shopping destination for quality clothing for the whole family, with collections ranging from ladies, men, young ladies, and young men to separate ‘store within a store’ sections for cosmetics, accessories, lingerie and a plus-sized line, H&M+,” the company wrote in a statement.
The first 300 people to visit the store on opening day will receive a T-shirt and an “Access to Fashion Pass” that has a value of between $10 and $300, as well as other giveaways.
