An unidentified man robbed a coffee stand on Missoula’s south side early Sunday, making off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers with the Missoula Police Department responded to reports of a robbery at the Florence Coffee Co. stand in the 700 block of Southwest Higgins Avenue at 11 a.m.

Missoula Police Cpl. Sean Manraksa said the suspect threatened the barista with what appeared to be a 6-inch hunting knife. The man fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Manraksa described the suspect as a white male, about 6 feet 2 inches tall. The suspect was of average build and appeared to be in his mid- to late 50s.

At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and tan work boots. He wore a bandanna over his face.

Manraksa said nobody was injured in the robbery and police are continuing to investigate.

Yeah - and you don't need a permit to have a firearm at your business.

Yeah...so the perp goes home and nurses his wounds, only to run out of drugs and do it again.

You know what really makes a knife useless in a robbery? It's called a concealed carry permit. That way the perp is either in the hospital, or the morgue. Either way, hopefully he would learn a lesson.

Missoulian, Do you know what makes a knife a hunting knife? If it's used for hunting. The robbery weapon was simply a 6" knife. I'm actually surprised it wasn't referred to as an "assault" knife in this article.

Yes, if it is a male in his 50s, then it has to be drugs. Another rabid dog running loose.

That loser probably only got away with somewhere between 50-100 I'm guessing. Just enough to support his drug or drinking habit one more day
