MISSOULA — Otto VonGrey, 45, died unexpectedly in his home Friday, Aug. 18, 2017, in Missoula.
He was born on Feb. 8, 1972, in Poughkeepsie, New York.
Otto lived in Claremont and later moved to Vergennes where he joined a work program to continue his high school education.
He lived in Burlington, Vermont, Colchester, Vermont, and in South Hero, Vermont, before he moved to Bozeman and later settled in Missoula where he worked at Spectrum Aquatics as a supervisor in shipping.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, listening to his favorite RR music, playing his guitar, writing songs and going to concerts. He also played in local bands.
Those who knew him described him as very honest, hard working, funny, caring and he had a love for dogs.
He is pre-deceased by his grandparents Frederick and Maureen of New York.
He is survived by his mother Arlene (Higgins) Staples, her husband John of Hartland, Vermont, stepsister Robynn Staples of Hartland, Vermont, his childhood friend whom he considered a brother Ian Tolliver of Claremont, New Hampshire, uncles; Peter Higgins of Pennsylvania, Michael Steup of New York, John Steup of Oregon, Dan Overton of New York, his aunts; Eileen Hayes of Missouri, Lorraine Coleman of New York, Lori Nitchals of Washington, and many cousins and his best friends Ian Lindsay and Haddie Rumpel of Montana.
There will be no funeral services. A private gathering will be held at a later date.
Those wishing may make memorial donations to the Lucy MacKenzie Human Society in Windsor, Vermont.
