Edward Verplancke, president of the Missoula Iris Society, weeds the group’s display gardens at the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula on Monday. Verplancke said fall is the best time to get weeds and grass out of the iris beds, where he estimates more than 400 varieties are growing.

    So, if Fort Missoula is Federal Property, why isn't it blocked off and guarded like Mt Rushmore and the National Mall?
