This is in regards to the Missoula Marathon that took place on Sunday, July 11.
It will soon be the three-year anniversary of the death of a very loved and missed young man. Keaton Miles died on July 16, 2007, in a tragic accident. Two years ago, the Missoulian did an article about some local girls running in memory of Keaton. In fact the girls were Bobbi Miles (Keaton's sister), Caitlin MacMillan, Kari Wackler, Kerry McKay, and their water girl, McKinly Kramer (Keaton's cousin). They were known as the green team.
Caitlin thought of the idea to take pledges for the race to go to Keaton's non-profit fund, the "Heaven Couldn't Wait" memorial fund. They surpassed their goals and raised money two years in a row for the fund. This year, Keaton's mom and dad got into to the act as well. Louie and Debbie Miles and the water girl, McKinly, also ran the half marathon. Caitlin ran the full marathon and others either ran the half marathon or a relay team for the full marathon. Keaton's older sister Jenny, was on the sidelines cheering them on and taking photos along the way.
The Heaven Couldn't Wait fund has helped many children and families with special needs that the Miles' family feels Keaton would approve of. If anyone wishes to make pledges in memory of Keaton they can do so by going online at www.active.com/donate/keatontubbamiles. Our family would like to thank all of those who have already made pledges and appreciate the efforts of the girls who ran. We love you all. Go green team!
