Thank you for the fine article about our father, husband, and war hero, Don Tomlinson. "Unsung Hero" (Aug. 9), researched and written by Kim Briggeman, with photographs by Kurt Wilson, is a treasure to our family, to the people of Missoula who know Don, and to those who wish that they did after reading about him.
We would like for John Faulkner, director of the Great Falls International Airport, to receive the credit he deserves for creating the three extraordinary storyboards about Don's life. We sent him the information and photographs, but were delighted to discover what he had done with them when we arrived in Great Falls.
Those boards are now part of the permanent exhibit about the Army Air Corps 7th Ferrying Group at the History Museum of the Cascade County Historical Society. Also, while Don Tomlinson achieving the rank of captain during the Alaska-Siberian Lend Lease Mission was significant, his rank at the end of his service with the United States Air Force in 1957 was that of lieutenant colonel.
Thank you again for honoring Don in his home town, and for the excellent reporting of Kim Briggeman.
and the Tomlinson family,
