In the Sunday, March 8, Missoulian, Lark Chadwick expressed boundless thanks for the work done by Sen. Jennifer Fielder. Reading Chadwick’s letter, one gets the impression she speaks for all of the residents of Sanders County.
I in no way wish to demean the physical and monetary elements of the senator’s job. In my 50 years in the work force, I witnessed people unwilling to fulfill the requirements of their jobs although they knew them upon accepting the job. That is not the case here; I am sure the senator knew the job requirements.
A problem arises though when Chadwick thanks the senator for “the difficult and oft-heart-breaking work you have and are doing on our behalves.” Myself, other residents of Sanders County, and organizations whose opinions were published in this newspaper are diametrically opposed to a number of policies proposed and actions by the senator. My personal opinion is that policies and actions are more important than just putting in the time, so — no thanks.
