If I remember correctly, Montana has the highest level of alcoholism in the country but amazingly, we continue to promote the use of alcohol by promoting brewery products and festivals plus drunk drivers appear every weekend – and yet god forbid the use of marijuana, which usually puts the smoker to sleep while the drunks walk the streets and some even sleep on the street.
Seems to me, the powers that be need to rethink this and give those who would rather smoke pot a break, especially since it is known to be the best “treatment” for those with post-traumatic stress disorder and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder. The medical benefits alone are far better than finding massive amounts of funds to finance alcohol and drugs (like meth and abuse of prescription drug) programs.
P.S.: I do not drink, smoke or use drugs, but I’ve worked in the field of alcohol and drug abuse.
