On May 21 and May 22 the Student Senate at Willard Alternative High School held the second annual “Creativity Festival: An Arts-Based Sharing Show.” The festival included two main parts.

The first part of the Creativity Festival was a silent auction, which the Student Senate planned as a fundraiser for student activities at Willard. Works of art were donated to the auction not only by Willard students but also by generous artists throughout Missoula County Public Schools and the Missoula community. The auction was a big success thanks to the generosity of the student and community artists who donated, and members of the public who attended and bid on the art.

Secondly, we had an all-school assembly to showcase student talent. The show included singing, original poetry readings, dance and more. We were the emcees for the show and were blown away by the talent and effort we saw on that stage.

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge everyone who contributed to making our Creativity Festival a smash hit. The list of contributors includes members of the Student Senate, who worked hard to plan this cool project; student artists and performers; community members, who both donated art and purchased art; and finally, of course, the great staff at Willard who supported the Festival in many ways.

We are proud of our alternative high school and the students in it. Thank you to everyone who made the Creativity Festival a success. It really was an awesome “Arts-Based Sharing Show”!
