Plans to salvage some of the timber burned in the Rice Ridge fire of 2017 will go out for public review on Jan. 10.
The Seeley Lake Ranger District staff will provide information and answer questions about the Rice Ridge Fire Salvage Project at the Seeley Lake Chamber of Commerce from 5 to 7 p.m.
The project intends to recover timber before it loses economic value, take care of hazards on roads and trails and re-establish forest and habitat conditions. It affects 4,838 acres of mountains just east and south of Seeley Lake.
The public scoping period for the project ends Jan. 22. Additional project information can be found at: http://www.fs.usda.gov/projects/lolo/landmanagement/projects.
Proposed treatments and associated transportation system can be found online.
