Missoula County is preparing for its annual mobile home sale.

The owners of mobile homes for sale have not paid their taxes for 2010. There are 638 homes on the list for auction.

Delinquent taxpaxers have until the day of the auction to pay their bill. In addition to paying late taxes, the mobile home owners must pay $75 in fees to avoid sale at the auction.

Annie Cathey, county delinquent tax collection clerk, says she doesn't expect all 638 homes to be for sale on the day of the auction. This sale forces people to settle their bills, she said.

"This tends to get people's attention," Cathey said.

Last year, about 38 homes were auctioned off.

The auction will take place Thursday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m. at the Missoula County Courthouse.
