DENTON - The Montana Highway Patrol says an 88-year-old woman has died and her 86-year-old husband has been injured after their car collided with a Highwood High School activities bus headed to a football game.

Police say no one in the bus was injured in the collision that occurred about 11 a.m. Saturday.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Mark Shoup says the man lost control of the vehicle on a section of Montana Highway 80 between Denton and Stanford where it changes from pavement to gravel for about a fourth of a mile.

Police say the vehicle was traveling about 55 mph and slid sideways into the oncoming lane where the passenger side of the car hit the front of the bus.

The Great Falls Tribune reports that he man was taken to Central Montana Medical Center in Lewiston.

Names have not been released.
