KALISPELL - Authorities say a 42-year-old woman was killed and another was injured in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 2 near Browning in northwestern Montana.

The Daily Inter Lake reports Flathead County Sheriff Chuck Curry identified the woman as Gayle Benson of Browning.

The Montana Highway Patrol says Benson was traveling too fast for wet, slick conditions on Marias Pass when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a guardrail at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday. A 19-year-old woman who was a passenger was treated at a Kalispell hospital, and a third passenger was uninjured.

The patrol says Benson was not wearing her seatbelt, but was not ejected from the vehicle.
