HELENA – A lobbyist who helped draft Montana’s 2004 voter-approved medical marijuana law is requesting an early termination to his federal probation sentence.
61-year-old Tom Daubert filed the documents in U.S. District Court.
Daubert is seeking to end the five-year probationary term he received in September 2012 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to maintain a drug-involved premises.
Daubert’s attorney, Peter Lacney, says in court documents that before the guilty plea, Daubert led a law-abiding life and has been a respected member of the community.
Daubert was a partner in a company called Montana Cannabis in Helena that distributed marijuana before a federal crackdown on the state’s marijuana businesses.
