HELENA - A 48-year-old woman accused of shooting and killing her estranged husband and another woman in Helena has pleaded not guilty to two counts of deliberate homicide.
KTVH-TV reports Michelle Coller Gable entered her pleas in District Court on Thursday. Bail was maintained at $250,000.
Authorities responded to the shooting at an apartment shortly after 6 a.m. Oct. 13 and found that 48-year-old Joseph Andrew Gable and 50-year-old Sunday Cooley Bennett had been shot. Bennett was found dead, and Joseph Gable died at a hospital.
The shooting happened just two days after he filed for divorce from his wife of 25 years and three weeks after he tried to get a protection order after she came to Helena from her home in Maryland.
A judge denied the request, saying there was "no personal danger or threat involved."
