HELENA – Democrat John Lewis of Helena raised a total of nearly $400,000 through Dec. 31 for his race for the U.S. House.

Lewis is the first House candidate to release fundraising totals for the final three-month period of 2013.

He is unopposed in the Democratic primary so far, while four Republicans have announced their candidacies to date. Three other Republicans are considering entering the race.

Campaign finance reports must be filed Jan. 31 with the Federal Election Commission.

In his second quarter of fundraising, Lewis raised more than $200,000 to bring his campaign total to about $396,000.

He has spent about $68,000 so far to leave about $328,000 left cash on hand as of Dec. 31.

Lewis has kicked in $50 of his own money into the campaign.

The campaign reported no debts.

Lewis had set a goal of raising $2 million for his campaign to be the first Democrat to capture the state’s lone House seat since 1994.

This guy is a wonk- name me one wonk who has won ANY political office in this state. Very depressing, if you ask me. Professional politicians will never win in this state. We need a real candidate, without the ridiculous skin head appearance of this guy.

Sen. Max Baucus's (D-Mont.) top state-based staffer is quitting to explore a run for Congress.

John Lewis, Baucus's state director, has been considering a run for his boss's seat after he retires, as well as a bid for Montana's at-large House seat.

"After more than decade of fighting for Montana in a role that has brought me to every corner of our great state, I'm excited to explore other opportunities that will allow me to continue my public service," Lewis said in a statement to The Hill.

Not so fast Huey.........have you ever won an election....for anything? No....didn't think so. Too bad for you......your buddy "Train Wreck" Max is running for cover. Obviously you don't think the dems will hold the senate seat or you would stay. Heaven knows....you don't want to have to work for a living.

Move along little fella........make room for the big boys, and return those monies to the suckers that you squeezed it from.
