Montana Secretary of State Linda McCulloch, a Democrat, and Republican State Sen. Champ Edmunds will debate Election Day voter registration at the October City Club Missoula forum.
The program will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 100 Madison St.
The focus of the discussion is Legislative Referendum 126, which if passed would repeal Montana’s Election Day voter registration law and replace it with one that ends voter registration on the Friday before Election Day. Edmunds will argue to end same-day registration (a yes vote on the referendum), and McCulloch will support the current practice allowing citizens to register when they arrive at the polls to vote (a no vote on the referendum).
