Missoulian mailbag

My name’s Greg Strandberg and I’m running for Missoula City Council out of Ward 4.

I’m not confident about the upcoming election. We’ll have a 20 percent voter turnout and nothing will change.

More tax increases, more bonding debt, and more young people leaving the state.

You just can’t make a living here, and good luck buying a house with average prices now up to $270,000.

I’m not sure why out-of-state businesses would want to locate here, either — to a city with the highest taxes in the state and no affordable housing to speak of. This situation is costing us hundreds if not thousands of jobs.

Mayor John Engen will most likely get re-elected, and his rubber-stamp city council too. They’re benefiting; you’re not.

It’s time for a change.

You have the power to elect city councilors who will dig into that city budget and ask agencies the tough questions.

We can begin to reduce taxes starting next year.

Now’s the time to create change in Missoula. Please do so by voting. Mail-in ballots go out Oct. 18.

Greg Strandberg,
