It was a bit shocking and quite disappointing to watch the Griz play the Washington Huskies last Saturday. I realize that the Griz are no match for the No. 7 ranked Huskies, but I thought they would at least demonstrate some acumen about the game of football.
Possibly the coaches neglected to tell the players that the game would be "tackle" and not "touch" football. The Griz have no concept on how to cover kickoff or punt returns. The offense did show some signs of life, but thanks to inept play-calling by the coaches, most of the life was soon extinguished.
I certainly hope that the quality of football in the Big Sky Conference has not fallen as low as was demonstrated by the Griz last weekend.
I suppose one could put a small positive spin on the performance by noting there is only one way to go from here — and that would be up!
