I am an advanced emergency medical technician licensed in Montana under the Montana Board of Medical Examiners.

My entire profession has gone unrepresented in discussions regarding our practice of medicine for too long in Montana. The Governor's Office is aware of the vacancy and has taken no action to correct this huge danger to the public.

The Montana Legislature requires an EMT representative on the board to assure our profession is protected, and that you, the public, are protected.

There are major discussions, changes and potential professional misconduct being improperly progressed without input from appropriate colleagues. I am paying this board, as are all prehospital providers (emergency medical responders, EMTs, advanced EMTs and paramedics) without appropriate representation.

There are major gaps in our statewide EMS system on both the Department of Public Health and Human Services side where ambulance services are licensed and the Department of Labor and Industry where individual providers are licensed to practice in Montana. This is not necessary, as answers are out here in our professional pool.

This is wrong. And, as we are largely volunteer-based providers, it is hard to fix.

We need representation to protect you and others we are out there battling to save in the ditches.
