I would like to express my deepest appreciation to the staff at the Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History at Fort Missoula.
A few years ago, my mother donated her father’s World War I uniform to the museum. She has always wanted to see it on display. While there is not a designated WWI exhibit at this time, Tate Jones and Linda Johnson took time to set up a special display that included my grandfather’s uniform, photos, maps of battles he participated in, and other artifacts from WWI just for my mother.
When we visited the display, they were amazingly kind and attentive. The heat had gone out in the building and they made sure she was warm and kept bringing her coffee. The next time we visited, the heat was on and they were just as attentive. They told stories and sang songs together. They listened as she talked about her father and how proud she was of him. Tate Jones took time to wheel her around to show her the rest of the displays.
I can never thank them enough for the time and effort they put into making this a very special time for my mother and honoring my grandfather.
