Republic Services takes great pride in serving over 40,000 customers throughout greater Missoula, which is why I am addressing a (Nov. 2) letter to the editor in the Missoulian.

In Missoula, Republic offers all-in-one recycling services. Residents may simply place their recyclables in their container at their home, and we’ll do the rest.

We also collect recyclables at no cost at the community drop-off, and it is important to know that we are unable to accept No. 3-7 plastics at this facility. Current market conditions are contributing to the declining economics of recycling. This is not unique to Montana, this is occurring across the U.S.

Examples of No. 3-7 plastics include certain types of hard plastic water bottles, salad dressing bottles, drinking straws, Styrofoam, CD cases and Tupperware. We will continue to take No. 3-7 plastics in the all-in-one collections for the time being.

Check the number inside the three chasing arrows on the container to identify the type of plastic. If it is No. 3-7 or does not have a number, we are unable to accept it. You may contact Republic Services at 406-543-3157.

We are dedicated to providing our customers with an exceptional experience and great value. Together, we can preserve recycling in Montana.
