If you make less than $75,000, the Republican tax bill raises your taxes. You will probably pay slightly less for a few years, then your temporary breaks expire and you will pay more than you do now.
If you make more than $1 million, congratulations! You will pay much, much less in taxes every year from here on out.
U.S. Sen. Steve Daines, U.S. Rep. Greg Gianforte, Sen. Mitch McConnell, Rep. Paul Ryan and President Trump know that everyone who makes less than $75,000 is a lazy freeloader, which is why they are also increasing the tax burden on university students (drastically, in the case of most graduate students) and refusing to fund the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
But if you’ve been waiting to buy a private jet, enjoy your government subsidy. President Reagan cut taxes for the rich, and we are still waiting for that trickle-down to reach the people at the bottom, but at least he had the decency to throw the middle class a bone at the same time. No such luck with today’s Republican Party.
Only the very, very wealthy get government assistance under Trump. Most hard-working Americans can look forward to higher taxes, courtesy of the GOP.
