OREM, Utah — For the first time in the second half, the Missoula Osprey walked off the field with the win.
Their consistent scoring efforts to start the game over the Orem Owlz on Friday, boosted the O's over the Orem Owlz, 10-6.
The Osprey started the game driving in one run an inning.
The first inning brought in Eduardo Diaz off a Juan Araujo sacrifice fly. Francis Martinez hit a home run beyond center field in the second inning. Juan Araujo homered to left center field in the third.
Orem tacked on a run of its own in the third to tie the game.
In the fourth inning, the Osprey regained their lead by adding two more runs to the scoreboard.
To take the lead, Martinez nabbed his second RBI of the night after doubling to center field to drive in Jose Caballero. Three plate appearances later, Keshawn Lynch hit a sacrifice fly to center field to drive in Martinez, adding a run of insurance.
The O's drove in three more insurance runs in the fifth inning to make the score 8-3. Andy Yerzy came home on a passed ball and Diaz added two more RBI to his stat line after bringing home Araujo and Caballero off a line-drive single.
Missoula's bats quieted in the sixth, seventh and eighth inning before tacking on two insurance runs in the ninth.
The Osprey held on to a 10-5 lead over the Owlz as the game went to the bottom of the ninth inning.
O's pitcher Abraham Almonte came in to close out the game, but he wouldn't get the three outs needed so easily.
Almonte struck out Orem's Ryan Vega to lead off, but a wild pitch but Vega on first. Two plate appearances later, Keinner Pina singled on a line drive to center field.
For the second out of the inning, Orem's Spencer Griffin hit a ground ball to third base, forcing out Vega for the O's second out of the inning.
With one out needed to end the game, Almonte gave up another single, this time, scoring Pina. On the next at bat, Orem's Franklin Torres popped a fly ball to right field to end the game.
