First baseman Paul Goldschmidt and outfielder Ender Inciarte, teammates on the 2009 Missoula Osprey team, were both awarded a Gold Glove on Tuesday.
The honor was Goldschmidt’s third (2013, 2015) as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Inciarte’s second (2016) as a player for the Atlanta Braves. The award is given annually to the players judged to have exhibited superior individual fielding performances at each position as voted by the managers and coaches in each league.
Goldschmidt had a .997 fielding percentage and tied for second among first basemen with 10 defensive runs saved. He is also the first Diamondbacks player to win three Gold Glove Awards and the seventh first baseman to earn All-Star and Gold Glove honors in the same season on three separate occasions.
Inciarte committed just three errors in 156 games and was selected to his first MLB All-Star team. In just his fourth major league season.
