ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Drew Lugbauer homered twice and had three hits as the Rome Braves beat the Asheville Tourists 9-6 on Monday.
Asheville cut the deficit to 5-4 in the seventh after Chad Spanberger hit an RBI double, bringing home Sean Bouchard as part of a three-run inning.
Rome answered in the next half-inning when Jean Carlos Encarnacion hit an RBI single, bringing home Lugbauer.
The Braves later tacked on three runs in the ninth when Riley Delgado hit an RBI single and then scored on a two-run home run by Lugbauer to secure the victory.
Rome left-hander Kyle Muller (1-0) picked up the win after allowing one run on just two hits over five innings. Opposing starter Antonio Santos (0-2) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game after allowing four runs and six hits over six innings. Walter Borkovich gave up one run in 1 1/3 innings and recorded his first save of the season.
Casey Golden homered and singled, driving in two runs for the Tourists.
