WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) -- Chase Vallot drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning, leading the Wilmington Blue Rocks to a 5-1 win over the Carolina Mudcats on Monday.
The walk by Vallot capped a two-run inning and gave the Blue Rocks a 2-1 lead after Chris DeVito drew a bases-loaded walk earlier in the inning.
The Blue Rocks later added two runs in the second and one in the fifth. In the second, Gabriel Cancel hit a two-run double, while Vallot hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Khalil Lee in the fifth.
Carolina missed a scoring opportunity in the eighth, when Dallas Carroll flew out with the bases loaded to end the inning.
Wilmington southpaw Cristian Castillo (1-1) picked up the win after allowing one run on five hits over five innings. Opposing starter Marcos Diplan (0-1) took the loss in the Carolina League game after allowing four runs and three hits over two innings.
