LOGAN, Utah — The Montana women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to Utah State to open its spring break tour.
Senior Catherine Orfanos lost to defending Mountain West Player of the Week Hannah Jones in a third-set tiebreaker. Junior Nathalie Joanlanne also lost in a third-set tiebreaker.
Julia Ronney, Bianca Bostrom, Lidia Dukic and Eimear Maher all lost in straight sets.
The double teams of Cam Kincaid and Bostrom, Ronney and Dukic, and Joanlanne and Orfanos all lost their matches.
"I'm happy with the doubles," head coach Steve Ascher said. "We worked on that this week, so I'm proud of the way we came out and competed."
The loss against the Aggies drops the Griz to 6-9 (2-3 BSC) on the season, still holding the goal of finishing in the top six in the Big Sky to earn a berth to the conference championship.
Montana now moves on to face Boise State on Tuesday at the Appleton Tennis Center, with the match scheduled to start at 11 a.m.
