CEDAR CITY, Utah — Stefan Cantwell passed for 299 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 105 yards and a score to spark Weber State to a 30-13 victory over Southern Utah in the second round of the FCS playoffs on Saturday night.

The win sends the Wildcats (11-2) to Harrisonburg, Virginia next Saturday for a matchup with defending champion and top-seeded James Madison (12-0). It will be Weber State's third trip to the quarterfinals. Weber State heads east with its first 11-win season under its belt.

The Thunderbirds (9-3) started fast and led 10-0 by the end of the first quarter on Jay Green's 16-yard run and a 37-yard field goal by Manny Berz.

The second half was all Weber State. Cantwell put the Wildcats ahead for good with a 5-yard TD run early in the third quarter and added a 10-yard scoring strike to Andrew Vollert. Tuttle kicked his third field goal — a 24-yarder — in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring.

North Dakota State 38, San Diego 3

FARGO, N.D. — Easton Stick threw for three touchdowns and ran for another, and second-seeded North Dakota State rolled past San Diego 38-3 on Saturday in the second round of the FCS playoffs.

The Bison (11-1), who won five consecutive FCS titles from 2012-16 and lost to eventual champion James Madison in the semifinals last year, will take on No. 7 seed Wofford in the quarterfinals. The Bison also beat San Diego (10-3) in last year's second round, 45-7.

James Madison 26, Stony Brook 7

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — Bryan Schor threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns, and defending champion James Madison tied a Division I program record with five interceptions in a win over 10th-ranked Stony Brook.

The Dukes have won 24 straight, dating to last season, for the longest active streak in Division I.

Kennesaw State 17, Jacksonville State 7

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. — Chandler Burks and Darnell Holland scored touchdowns and the Kennesaw State defense held third-seeded Jacksonville State to 187 yards offense.

The Owls (12-1), in their third year of football, have their second playoff victory in two weekends and advanced to the quarterfinals.

South Dakota State 37, Northern Iowa 22

BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — Taryn Christion threw for three touchdowns and ran for another score to lead South Dakota State in a victory over Northern Iowa.

Fifth-seeded South Dakota State (10-2) avenged a 38-18 loss to Northern Iowa (8-5) on Oct. 14. The Jackrabbits have won six straight since then and will play in the quarterfinals against New Hampshire, who upset fourth-seeded Central Arkansas.

Wofford 28, Furman 10

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Blake Morgan had one touchdown rushing and another receiving and seventh-seeded Wofford defeated Southern Conference rival Furman.

Wofford plays at second-seeded North Dakota State in the quarterfinals next weekend.

Sam Houston State 54, South Dakota State 42

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) — Jeremiah Briscoe threw four touchdowns — three to Davion Davis — and Corey Avery ran for two scores and No. 6 seed Sam Houston State outlasted South Dakota State.

The Bearkats (11-1), who piled up 33 first downs and 708 yards of total offense and won their 20th straight home game, play host to Kennesaw State in the quarterfinals next weekend.
