The University of Montana men's lacrosse team won the annual Fall Lacrosse Shootout at Fort Missoula Sunday.

The Grizzles defeated Providence College (Great Falls) in the title game, 6-2. Jimmy Pierce and Kyle Kemper scored two goals apiece while Trent Tubbs and Chris Palmer each scored one.

Montana beat Montana State in a semifinal thriller Sunday morning, 6-5 in double overtime. On Saturday, UM beat Weber State (9-2) and Montana State (5-4) but lost to Idaho in overtime (7-6).

Montana is coming off a 2017 spring season in which it won the conference and made an appearance at the national tournament. The team lost just three players from that squad and is poised to make another run at nationals this coming spring.
