Up-and-coming Griz middle linebacker Trase LeTexier has torn his ACL during spring football drills, he confirmed via Twitter.
LeTexier, a redshirt freshman from Boulder, was in good spirits despite the injury Thursday night. He tweeted, "I was pretty bummed that I tore my ACL.. then I woke up and realized It could be worse... I could be a bobcat."
LeTexier started the spring as the No. 3 active MLB, but played his way into the No. 2 role behind sophomore Vika Fa'atuiese by the second scrimmage last Friday. Twice in that scrimmage he went down or was slow to get up from apparent leg injuries. On the second he limped off the field with help.
A 6-foot-2, 240-pounder, LeTexier was a three-time all-state linebacker at Jefferson County High and set a school record with 375 career tackles.
Montana wraps up practices with Saturday's annual Grizzly Spring Game in Butte. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Naranche Stadium.
