BISMARCK, N.D. – Polson native Craig Bagnell became the youngest head football coach in the NCAA when he was hired Wednesday to take over the University of Mary program.

The 27-year-old Bagnell was a record-setting quarterback for the Marauders (2010-13). Prior to returning to Mary, he was the offensive coordinator for Bemidji State in Minnesota.

Bagnell takes over a Marauders program that has posted three consecutive 1-10 seasons. Mary competes in the NCAA Division II Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

Bagnell was a four-year starter for the Marauders, twice earning all-Northern Sun honors and directed the league’s top offense in 2011. He finished his career as Mary’s all-time leader in touchdown passes (75), passing yards (9,170), passing attempts (1,229) and completions (759).
