A dozen Montana high school coaches were rewarded after leading their programs to state championships this winter as coaches of the year.

In boys' basketball, Mark Harkins and Zanen Pitts coached their respectively programs to their first ever state championships. Pitts's Arlee Warriors won at the Class C ranks to help him earn a coach of the year nod while Glacier's Mark Harkins won at AA to earn the same honor.

Class A's Terry Thomas of Dillon and Class B's David Costin of Malta rounded out the boys' basketball winners.

Girls' basketball coaches of the year included Eric Peterson of AA Helena, Cary Finberg of A Columbia Falls, Dustin Gordon of B Fairfield and Jeff Graham of C Belt.

Jeff Thompson's return to Kalispell Flathead wrestling coincided with the Braves' return to gold. Thompson, a previous winner of the coach of the year award, was named to the top spot again following his team's win in Class AA.

Havre's Scott Filius in Class A, Euerka's Danny Lemer in B and Jason Lorang in C were also honored.
