MISSOULA — Missoula Sentinel basketball player Sam Beighle announced on Thursday via Twitter that he had committed to play basketball at Carroll College after his senior season.

As a junior, Beighle was fifth in scoring in the Class AA, averaging 16.5 points per game according to mtsportsmemories.com. The Spartan guard pitched in another 6.5 boards per game — ninth best in the state — and he hit the most 3-pointers (53) in the state's highest classification. Sentinel finished 11-12 overall in 2016, but 8-4 in conference as the Spartans clinched a state tournament berth.

The commitment will put him on a rival school against his former teammate, Will Mytty, who is now a freshman on the Montana Tech basketball team.
