Bozeman distance runner Camila Noe and Westby-Grenora quarterback Jeremiah Paine are the 406mtsports.com Athletes of the Month for October, and both capped off their big month with an even more memorable November.
Noe, one of the top 50 5K runners in the nation, won the Class AA state cross country meet in Helena with a time of 17 minutes, 28.1 seconds, defeating a number of other nationally ranked runners. She followed up that success with an announcement that she'll run for the University of Portland next fall before winning the Nike Cross Northwest Regional in Boise, Idaho, by 17 seconds -- shattering the course mark by nine seconds.
Paine, a senior, broke the Class C 6-Man record for touchdowns in a career when he surpassed the previous mark of 116, held by former Westby-Grenora standout Cooper Olson. He then threw eight touchdown passes as the Thunder routed Bridger 68-37 this past Saturday to give the co-op its first state football title.
Paine is a three-year starter at quarterback for the Thunder and finished with a state-record 153 TD passes overall for his career, including 69 this fall -- another state mark.
