EAGLE, Idaho – That’s a bounce-back and a half.

Bigfork’s Makena Morley followed up her loss at last week’s Mountain West Classic by setting the course record at the Bob Firman Invitational Saturday at Eagle Island State Park.

Morley won in 17 minutes, 24.6 seconds. Running a distant second was defending champion Lucy Biles of Herriman, Utah, at 17:42.9.

In fourth was Bryn Morley, Makena’s freshman sister, at 17:51.9.

Makena Morley broke the record of 17:29.3 run by Amy-Eloise Neal out of Snohomish, Washington, in 2012.

Bryn Morley’s time is unofficially the 12th-fastest in the 7-year-old event.

Bigfork junior Logan Morley, the girls’ brother, finished 69th in the boys’ race with a time of 16:52.1. Connor Mantz of Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah, won the race in 14:51.3.
