GREAT FALLS — Montana high school batters will be happy to see Tristin Achenbach go, but she put together one heck of a curtain call to cap her prep career Saturday.

Achenbach, a future college player with Missoula's Grizzlies, led Great Falls CMR to its second straight State AA championship with a one-hit shutout of crosstown foe Great Falls High. She struck out 13 batters in the 3-0 victory at her team's home field.

The pitching win was Achenbach's fourth of the tournament, all four coming in dominant one-hitter performances.

Bison pitcher Erin Hocker was nearly as good, limiting the Rustlers (24-1) to just four hits. That was enough for CMR to score three runs though, and both Kayci Edwards and Savanna Voyles, herself a Montana signee as well, had RBIs.

It's Achenbach's third straight individual state championship. She pitched the past two seasons with Class B-C Conrad-Choteau before transferring to the Class AA ranks last summer.

Great Falls (22-6) knocked off Helena 11-1 earlier in the day to advance to the championship and hand the Bengals (15-12) third place for the tourney. Tanaya Krenik and Sarah Conway each homered for Great Falls in the win.
