COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- Missoula Aquatic Club swimmers Katharine Berkhoff and Adam Zimmer made a splash individually at the Speedo Winter Junior National Championships last week at the Texas A&M Aquatic Center.
Berkoff took fourth in the 200-yard backstroke and 11th in the 100 backstroke, setting Montana records in the process. Zimmer placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke, 10th in the 200 breaststroke and 22nd in the 200 individual medley, setting state records in those events.
The MAC also set Montana records in three relays.
In the girls' 800, the club was represented by Berkoff, Gabby Smart, Mari Aoki and Jess Ecklund. In the boys' 400 medley, MAC was represented by Matthew Fritz, Zimmer, Cale Berkoff and Darragh Mahns.
In the boys' 200 and 400 freestyle relays, the MAC was represented by Mahns, Zimmer, Berkoff and Dylan Faust.
With their points, the MAC placed 19th out of 110 teams in a meet that featured the top prep swimmers in the nation. Each preliminary event had 100-150 swimmers competing for the top 24 spots in order participate in the finals each evening.
