The Missoula Jr. Bruins had their two-game win streak snapped by the Helena Bighorns Saturday, dropping a 7-4 decision at Glacier Ice Rink.
The game was tied 4-4 midway through the third period before Helena exploded for three goals. Brian Thomas took the loss in net for the hosts, stopping 40 of 47 shots.
Much like Friday, the Jr. Bruins (15-20) spotted the Bighorns (24-10) an early lead. This time the visitors went up 2-0 in the first four minutes on goals by Nick Noel and Gavin Cline.
Missoula responded with two scores in the next 8 minutes. Vadim Zubkov tallied an unassisted goal at 11:41 and Bryan Miller lit the lamp on the power play at 14:02 with assists from Tyler Young and Rhys Cottle.
Cline put Helena back on top midway through the second period and Hayden Seitz stretched the Bighorns' lead to 4-2 with a goal just 18 seconds into the third period.
Missoula again responded, this time with goals by Austin Dennison and Misha Akatnov to knot the score at 4-4. Kaden Lindberg answered with a go-ahead goal for Helena at 10:04 and Ty Niskanen and Luc Cross added insurance goals in the final five minutes.
Missoula will hit the road this week for a game against the Bozeman Icedogs on Friday.
